The goal of the Department for International Comparative Studies (DICS) is ensuring that Kazakhstan participates in the international comparative studies conducted by OECD and IEA. As part of its activities DICS implements studies like PISA, PIAAC, TALIS, ICILS, PIRLS and TIMSS.
Implementation of these studies led to the accession of Kazakhstan into the OECD Committee for Education Policy as a "Participant".
Analysts at DICS also write national reports based on the study results, establishing comparisons at an international, as well as a regional level.
National reports and comparative analysis of factors that influence Kazakhstan's performance that DICS analysts conduct serve as a basis for recommendations and mechanisms offered to improve the system of education in Kazakhstan. These recommendations and mechanisms are a part of the 2016-2019 State Program on the Development of Education and Science of RK, the 2017-2021 Strategic Plan of MoES RK and other program documents of education in RK.
Moreover, DICS employees participate in republican and international seminars, conferences, forums dedicated to international comparative studies and other issues in education.
