Project team of Information Analytic Center completed training for university governing bodies’ registrars and members. The project team organized 6 seminars in Astana, Aktobe, Shymkent, Almaty and Ust-Kamenogorsk. The training relevance lies in expanding responsibilities of university governing bodies and the necessity of developing competencies of university governing bodies’ members. Thus, seminar participants including the Mazhilis deputies, representatives of state authorities, enterprises, research institutes, schools went through the training on strategical and financial management.  

Stephen Hagen and Nurlan Urazbayev developed the training program. The experts used actual data and case studies on the current work of university governing bodies.  

University of Information Technology, Mechanics and Optics (ITMO) in St Petersburg employed Stephen Hagen as a Vice-President for Change Management within the national program 5-100 (the Russian governmental program to increase leading universities’ global competitiveness and enter a top 100 in world university rankings). During his working period, ITMO University moved to 351-400 THE World Ranking from being ‘unplaced’.

Nurlan Urazbayev – Vice-Rector for strategic development and finance of Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda State University. Currently he is a member of the working group on translating Kazakhstani universities into non-commercial joint-stock companies.
