OECD Review of Technical and Vocational Education

In accordance with the order of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbayev dated September 1, 2011 Kazakhstan began the process of accession to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and intends to acquire the status of permanent observer to the Education Policy Committee.

In this regard in 2013-2014 the Republic of Kazakhstan participated in the OECD study on the technical and vocational education "Skills beyond School”.

The main objective of the study was to investigate the public policy in the sphere of technical and vocational education. The basic elements of TVE were observed in the Review: funding, dual training, infrastructure, training and development of teachers, social partnership and etc.

The OECD experts visited Kazakhstan from 23 September till 1 October 2013 with the aim of carrying out field studies. The OECD experts visited the state bodies in the formation of educational policy, educational institutions, non-governmental and international organizations.

On December 9, 2014 with the participation of the OECD expert and stakeholders in Astana was held a round table on the presentation of the study "Skills beyond school review: Kazakhstan”.
