TIMSS-2015 results – less than in two months!

November 29 is the date that world educational community is eagerly waiting for. It is when IEA will officially release the results of TIMSS-2015.

4- and 8-graders’ mathematical and science knowledge was surveyed in 48 and 40 countries respectively. Kazakhstan took part in TIMSS for the 3rd time in a row.

Along with the students’ achievements according to the international benchmarking, TIMSS also studies such factors as the teachers’ perception of their work, school resources and their influence on the quality of students’ knowledge.

To remind, in 2007 our 4-graders were 5th in mathematics, and 11-th in science subjects. In 2011, for the same age category, Kazakhstan occupied 27 and 32 places respectively, while 8-grade students showed 17th result in mathematics and 20th in science (

TIMSS results traditionally attract great attention both within public and in purely official educational circles. International reports impact modernization of curriculums, secondary education priorities are set with TIMSS results in mind.

Kazakhstan is waiting for TIMSS-2015 international press release too. 179 of our schools and 9.5 thousand students have represented Kazakhstan in this cycle.
