Workshop titled “The Impact of Autonomy Extension on Institutional Governance, Organizational Structure and Business Processes in HEIs”

On November 11th, 2016 the workshop titled “The Impact of Autonomy Extension on Institutional Governance, Organizational Structure and Business processes in HEIs” took place in JSC “Information Analytic Center”. The workshop was held within the project “Monitoring and Evaluation of Autonomy Implementation in Higher Education Institutions”.

Astana universities representatives including vice-rectors for academic affairs and departments directors of participated in the workshop.

In his welcome speech, the President of JSC "Information Analytic Center" Serik Irsaliyev pointed out that 96 out of top 100 universities of QS world universities rankings have decentralized management system. Kazakhstan universities are actively working on autonomy development. However, to achieve the indicators of developed countries, including OECD, universities have still much work to do.

The Vice-rector for academic affairs of the Central European University (Hungary), an international expert in the field of higher education (UNESCO, the Council of Europe, European Commission, OSCE, World Bank) Liviu Matei was a chief speaker of the workshop. In the workshops’s first part participants got the relevant information about international experience in autonomous institutional and business processes management. The workshop’s final part included practical group tasks .

It is worth noting that by the end of December the Centre mutually with experts will complete toolkit development for universities autonomy expansion.
